My latest collection, “The Carolinian Collection”, is based on frequent trips to the closest provincial park to me, the Pinery. Home to the largest protected forest in Southwestern Ontario, the Pinery hosts a unique ecosystem which includes the rare Oak Savanna a walk away from amazing freshwater coastal sand dunes.
While the Pinery is a place I have gone since childhood, I have never been more inspired by it since revisiting as an adult. Whether it’s kayaking down the Old Ausable Channel, hiking the Carolinian Trail, or snowshoeing during winter, each visit is unlike any other. It has opened my eyes to the wonder of nature, how much we depend on it, and how fragile it can be. My life is changed for the better and I want to do all I can to help preserve and grow this unique ecosystem and all the inhabitants of it.
From every sale of my Carolinian Collection, I will be donating 10% of the profits towards the Friends of Pinery Park. This charity helps to raise funds for preservation, research, education and continual care of the parks needs. Nature has given me so much. It refuels my soul and lights up my imagination. In doing this I wish to give back to that which inspires me; making it possible for future generations to enjoy the beauty of nature.
